While many companies are focusing on conventional ways to offering contextual and display advertising on the web, one particular startup thinks it could change the game by introducing new innovative technology and creative rules to Internet advertising. Enter AdExcel (or AdExcel.com), the company behind a trendsetting advertising technology known as Social Performance Advertising. It coined themselves as the Ning for advertising networks with more juice in Socialized Ads.
As the phrase described, they followed a similar web startup called Ning which allows users to create their own networks, but instead of social networks in Ning, AdExcel allows anybody to create their own advertising networks. This means that publishers can now earn more from multiple revenue streams not only from Ads served on their own websites, but also revenue bonuses from publishers and advertisers in their own network. To many publishers, this will be an attractive solution to increase their earnings and a very interesting strategy to mimic high growth patterns as we will usually see on social networks such as Facebook or Ning.
AdExcel also promises a new way to engage Internet audience with Socialized Ads. How it works? The service seems to be quite benevolent as it allows normal users to share comments and ratings of online Ads. Though there are some people might ask why anybody will want to comment and rate an online Ad. The reason is simple as the Internet continues to become more social, then it’s only natural for us to see Internet advertising starts to evolve. The obvious benefit is that advertising feedback will allow users to share their views and encourage a discussion on products and services on a particular advertiser.
So, the next time you click on an online Ad, you could rely on more information about the advertiser from the community. Think of it as giving power back to the people and encouraging a two-way interaction from both users and advertisers, instead of one-way as we usually see in conventional online advertising that just pushes Ads to users. For advertisers, it’s a value added solution that provide the ability to gather useful feedback and allow advertisers to react quickly to the marketplace.
Is this the future of Internet advertising? The founders of AdExcel certainly hope so and now launched in Private Beta but will soon be release to the public. The team is currently in the process of relocating to the valley at the San Francisco Bay Area. So if you are a VC or angel investor, you might want to drop them a line to offer a helping hand. And for the rest of us, we will just have to wait and see where this brave new world will take us and it should be nothing short of exciting.
